Eventing
Generally known as One Day Event this discipline is one of the most testing
for young riders and tests their overall ability across Dressage, Show
Jumping and Cross Country. An early start and Competitors are given their
Dressage time. They enter the Dressage Ring after which they put on back
protectors and move over to the Jumping Ring. In the afternoon they change
into the familiar and colourful sight of rugby jerseys and coloured hat
covers to run the exciting cross country course. Their performance over all
three tests is marked to select eventual winners.
Senior Club Members compete on larger cross country courses and attempt to
qualify for the IPC National Championships.
Younger members are encouraged to enter One Day Events and some clubs
(particularly Shillelagh Pony Club) include starter courses and junior
courses. The emphasis on these courses is to take part and get the kids used
to the whole experience. Jumps are lowered and at all fences riders can run
around if they do not like the look of it!
Several Club Members represent their respective School Teams at the Irish
Schools One Day Event held every September and run by The King's Hospital
School.

wins and runs for Juniors (U14), Intermediate(U16) and Senior(U21). Teams of
two, three and individuals can enter,
