Targeting Tetrathlon First-Timers

If you are interested in getting involved in Tetrathlon for the first time this year the Irish Pony Club has announced a series of important changes for 2016 aimed at encouraging C test holders freshly out of the minimus age grade, or coming late to the tetrathlon discipline.
For the first time this year, over 12s will be allowed to participate hors concours at Minimus in May, where cross county fence heights are being increased to 80cm. This will be an ideal opportunity for juniors to have an early season spin over a decent course with gate and slip rail, combined with a swim and run under championships conditions.
Minimus teams have greatly benefited in recent years from the series of prep or fun events run by branches in the lead up to championships. A similar “pathway” now exits for those who wish to ease themselves into tetrathlon over the course of the season.

Please note the following dates
– April 2 Hunter Trials Championships
– April 17 Wicklow Minimus and Tetrathlon Day, Bel Air
– May 28/29 Minimus Championships, Punchestown, Co Kildare
– June 25 – 3 Phase Tetrathlon, Laois Branch
– July 30th – Aug 1st Tetrathlon Championships, Tattersalls, Co Meath

We would love to have an idea of how many of new and experienced tetrathletes we will have this year as this will allow us to plan swimming and shooting training. Please contact Rhona to register your interest or if you have any queries at all.
