Preparations for camp are in full swing now and Alan is getting his team together to prepare the field. A lot of help will be needed before and during camp so if you can help out in any way please do let us know.
If anybody has a fridge or gas cooker to lend for camp week that would be great.
Lots of activities are being planned and this year we are delighted to introduce our camp mascot Pete the Pony who will be appearing at camp but he is a bit shy so you will have to keep your eyes peeled if you want to spot him.
We would like to invite all parents to come to the marquee on the first morning of camp, once their charges are mounted and safely in their groups, to meet up and have a chat.
Amanda and Olive are planning some safety instruction for parents including a demo on one of the most dangerous equestrian activities undertaken many times a day at camp – loading and unloading a pony!!!.
We would encourage all members to get a copy of the Manual of Horsemanship which has lots of safety information. There is also an IPC training notice which gives general guidance and important information on concussion available on the Irish Pony Club website.
There will be a crepe stall in the field on the second day of camp which will come back other days if people are interested. There will also be a tuck-shop and ice-cream van and we are planning a barbeque for one of the days depending on the weather.
Please check the website and facebook page regularly for any changes to plans
